This proposal looks to introduce the readers to a new legislations that will allow all citizens to have equal access along with fair access to a health care system. This plan will outline many key areas that will allow for employers to gain benefits for having coverage options for both full and part-time workers. In addition, this proposal will set a guideline to allow for an equal cost healthcare system for everyone that wishes to have coverage. The current plan, the Affordable Care Act, will be discussed throughout this proposal discussing how this plan is detrimental for the American people and the economy. This plan was passed in 2010, and it was set out to change the way that health care was available to the American people. The legislation contained many changes to the health care system and each of these changes would happen in stages. There are many changes that would take place immediately when the ACA was passed. One of the changes was that a child would be eligible to stay on their parents health insurance until they turn 26 years old (Key Features, 2015). Another change would be that the health insurance companies were no longer to deny a person coverage if they have a preexisting condition (Key Features, 2015). To respond to this the IRS has tried to extend tax credits to individuals that are a part of the exchanges that are federally run. However, this tactic violate the ACA provision only allows there to be tax credits for those exchanges that are run by the state (Adler & Cannon, 2013). The second problem with the Affordable Care Act is simply the cost. The cost of the ACA is estimated to around $1.2 trillion (CBO, 2012). Any one that in entering the ACA in good health will help offset these costs. However, due to there being significantly less healthy individuals entering the program, federal money has had to be used to finance the subsidies being used. Another problem with the ACA the way that this program has polarized the American people over the economic, racial, and political lines (Henderson & Hillygus, 2011).
