The results of Vo2max tests are used to judge initial fitness levels, monitor fitness levels, monitor physiological changes that occur from training or illness, diagnostic purposes to treat cardiovascular diseases, and to prescribe physical training. If V02max scores drop by even 3.5 mL/kg/min in diseased people, survival rates automatically decrease approximately 12%. People with higher aerobic fitness levels have decreased rate of mortality compared to those with low aerobic fitness level that have an increased rate of mortality.
