Wind is moving air and is caused by differences in air pressure within our atmosphere, Air under high pressure moves toward areas of low pressure , The greater the difference in pressure, the faster the air flows. Air may not seem like anything at all, in fact, we look right through it all the time, but during a windstorm, air really makes its presence known, Wind is able to lift roofs off buildings, blow down power lines and trees, and cause highway accidents as gusts push around cars and trucks.
Describing Wind:-
Wind is described with direction and speed. The direction of the wind is expressed as the direction from which the wind is blowing. For example, easterly winds blow from east to west, while …show more content…
Wind turbines have a role to play in both the developed and third world.
7. Wind turbines are available in a range of sizes which means a vast range of people and businesses can use them. Single households to small towns and villages can make good use of range of wind turbines available today.
Disadvantages of wind power:-
1. The strength of the wind is not constant and it varies from zero to storm force. This means that wind turbines do not produce the same amount of electricity all the time. There will be times when they produce no electricity at all.
2. Wind turbines are noisy. Each one can generate the same level of noise
3. Many people see large wind turbines as unsightly structures and not pleasant or interesting to look at. They disfigure the countryside and are generally ugly.
4. When wind turbines are being manufactured some pollution is produced. Therefore wind power does produce some pollution.
5. Large wind farms are needed to provide entire communities with enough electricity. For example, the largest single turbine available today can only provide enough electricity for 475 homes, when running at full capacity. How many would be needed for a town of 100 000 people? …show more content…
A joint venture with "DONG Energy" and "E. Online ", built farm London matrix to generate energy from offshore wind and ability to produce 1000 MW in the estuary of the River Thames, which will be the completion of the major electricity generation from offshore wind farms. And also they build a farm to generate power from the wind in the Seychelles which will meet 25% of its energy needs. In the near future they will build Farm Sir Bani Yas wind power, and estimated production capacity of about 30 MW, they just are waiting for the approval of the Executive Council, and also they are considering and planning to establish a farm to generate 100 megawatts of wind power near the Saudi
