The Federalists were in favor of the Constitution. They favored a strong national government. On the contrary, the Anti-Federalists were not in favor of the Constitution. They felt the Constitution took away too much of the state's power. Finally, the Constitution was ratified in 1788. Later, the Bill of Rights was also passed. As you can see, the Constitution was ratified, although it was an not easy process.
To conclude, the Constitution grew over the years from numerous events. One example is the Articles of Confederation was a very weak form of government that had multiple flaws. Another example is at the Constitutional Convention, the Great Compromise, the Electoral College, and the Three-Fifths Compromise were made to please everyone.
