Due to this reason supply chain management professionals often face challenges. One being many businesses around the world have yet to cope with the evolution that the supply chain sector has been through over the past decades. This means that some businesses have not integrated supply chain management in their operations as one business practice but rather kept those distinctions between departments in the process, as mentioned earlier in this article. Walmart’s emergency operations centre took immediate action by mapping new and safe delivery routes to access the stores that were in the projected flood areas. The shipments and operations at the region’s distribution centre were both adjusted for the natural disaster i.e., providing the region with necessities like bottled water. Shifting resources in advance to the natural disaster allowed Walmart to minimize revenue losses caused by the closure of some of their facilities.
