The procedure for this lab was first the students were split into two groups. Then, 35 pom poms of each color (black, red, and white) were placed on each habitat. Each hunter was given a cup; spoon, fork, or knife that was divided equally. This first set of data was recorded labeled as generation 1. A signal was indicated for 30 seconds so that the hunters were able to start hunting. After the 30 seconds the pom poms were counted and recorded on a data table. The hunters then lined up according to how many pom poms they had. To switch the type of hunter if a hunter had a fork or knife the hunter either received the opposite or a spoon. This process was repeated twice more to make a total of three generations. By the end of the procedure every student had received a spoon and there was little to none pom poms left in the grassland. The materials for this lab are red, white, and black pom poms, knives, spoons, forks, red faux fur, black fleece, and …show more content…
In Figure 3 there are the same amount of pom poms for each color in generation 1 in the black grassland. Then in generation 2 there are about the same amount of black and red pom poms. The white pom poms went down because they are easy to spot in the black grassland. In generation 3 there are more black pom poms. There are more black pom poms in the end because the black pom poms camouflage with the black grassland. In figure 4 there are about the same results but a different color of pom pom. In generation one there were all the same amount of each pom pom. In generation 2 there were more white and black than red. In generation 3 is when there are red pom poms left and no white or black pom poms. In figure In figure 5 it gives the results of the hunters in the black grassland. In generation 1 there were the same amount of knives, forks, and spoons. In generation 2 there were 0 knives, and more forks than spoons. The knives were taken out because they were not able to hunt very well. In generation 3 there were more hunters with spoons than forks because a spoon is the best type of hunter because it can scoop up more pom poms at a time. In figure 6 it shows the hunters in the red grassland. All of the hunters had the same amount of utensils. In generation 2 there were no hunters with knives, there were more hunters with spoons
