Adam Dyson: The Fabulous Super Bowl

The 50th Super Bowl will be held February 7th. It’s the final coin toss of the season in a game that decides the best in the NFL. Some major events have marked the last 49 years. Let’s take a look at the highlights.
Super Bowl XLIV, Peyton Manning and the Colts were heavy favourites to take on the New Orleans Saints. In the fourth quarter, on third down, as Manning attempts to keep the Colts alive, he throws an interception for a 74 yard touchdown- delivering the Saints their first ever Super Bowl victory.
Adam Vinatieri (4), kicker for the New England Patriots clutched Super Bowl wins in 2002 and 2004. Thanks to his right foot, he led the team to victory with last-minute field goals.
Kevin Dyson (87) came up one yard short of a Super Bowl win for the Titans. In 2000’s now infamous play, Dyson made the catch but got denied at the door. With no time left on the clock,

Green Bay coach Vince Lombardi was hoisted on the shoulders of his players and carried off the field after winning the Super Bowl. At the end of his career, it was the last game he coached for the Packers.
It’s time honoured tradition. “Gatorade showers” or the practice of soaking the winning coach in Gatorade caught on in the late 1980’s. Following the Giants’ 1987 Super Bowl triumph over the Broncos, as a sign of respect, Bill Parcells became the first winning coach to receive the Gatorade treatment.
The Bill’s star running back Thurman Thomas was apparently so stoked for the 1992 Super Bowl, that he misplaced his helmet. As result, Thomas missed the first offensive plays for his team.
