After my mother passes away my uncle took me in, but he neglected me. As I got to the tender age of 17, my uncle kicked me out. Being on the street as a young girl was really tough and I would never let my daughter or son very experience that in their lives. One day when I walking down the street, the local preacher saw me and invited to his church. Since that day, he and wife took me in and I became their adopted daughter. They taught me everything I know, but the most important subject was America. He told me America would be a fresh new start for me and That’s when I decide I’ll go to America for a better future”
Then I asked her what was her initial reaction when she first arrived at the United States, she laughs a little and said “When I first arrived in America, I was so happy. Words can not explain how happy I was when I set foot in here.”
Then I went on to ask her after being in the Untied States for a couple of month what did you miss from Haiti, “Oh geez, I miss a whole lot of things. My friends, adopted family, the food(laugh), even my uncle, but what I really miss was the feeling of home and familiarity but even though I miss my country I am so happy to be
