The Education Field: Most Rewarding Career

Superior Essays
The education field may be one of the most rewarding careers out there. Being able to touch so many lives at once and the privilege of teaching them so many new things is amazing. Not many are cut out to be a teacher. You have to have that willingness and openness to be a successful teacher. Children will depend on you to be the best you can be. They will always look for you to support them no matter what. Why be a teacher? It should be pretty self-explanatory. I cannot speak for no one besides myself. There are many reasons why I want to become a teacher. I want to become a teacher because it is something I have always wanted to do since I was a little girl. When I was younger, I have always been the oldest out of everyone else. It was only fair for me to be the teacher. My little cousins and stuffed teddy bears would be my students. I would give them all tests, play games, and have snack time. It is truly amazing how teachers are always remembered. A child will always remember their worst and their favorite teacher. What I want for myself is to be remembered by my students. I want to be remembered for everything positive I have ever taught them. As a teacher I would like to accomplish making a difference in student’s life. I know it is a bit cliché but it is true. I notice that most people remember their elementary school teachers the most. I want a student to come to me one day and say I helped them accomplish something. My career as a teacher would not be fulfilled until I know that my students were influenced by me in only positive ways. When my students move on to the next level of education I want them to be prepared. Making sure they are prepared for the next level of education is a huge but still small part of what I feel my profession requires. Getting my students prepared for the next step in life is important as well. It could be anything relating to their personal life. I would want them to feel confident enough that I prepared them to take on any task at hand. Preparing my students for what is next is a huge part of my success as a teacher. My aspiration to be a teacher strongly came along as I was growing up through elementary school. My influence was a teacher from elementary school. She taught me my third and fourth grade English class. She was always helpful and there for me whenever I needed her. She had a noticeable bond with each of her students and I loved that. Since I’ve always wanted to teach, my goal was to someday be like her. She influenced me to want more than just being the one to teach the younger generation. She influenced me to want to help mold them and to create a bond with each of them just as she did with me. My legacy as a teacher will be, always strive to be the best you can be. I believe that every child has an opportunity to be a great individual. Some may need more attention than others but they can all achieve their own greatness and success. I want to leave my students with the confidence to do anything they put their mind to. They will be able to take on any task and know that they did the best they could do. I want them to feel comfortable and willing to do their best. I do not want to be the only reason …show more content…
Existentialism and its role in the education philosophy is important. Being able to mold your student and help them become a better individual is just as important as the content you are trying to teach them. No matter how much you try to teach a student something, if they do not have the self-confidence or the self-motivation to do it, then all of your teachings go in vein. The teachings you are trying to pass on to the student will not be obtained because they do not want to learn it. Existentialism’s believe that “they start with the student, rather than on curriculum content” (Cohen, 1999). If you can capture the student’s interest and work that into your teaching, the success of the student will reach full

Five educational philosophies developed as way people believe students should learn and grow in a classroom. The five educational philosophies are essentialism, perennialism, progressivism, social reconstructionism, and existentialism. All five differ from the focus of study and teacher’s role. Essentialism believes the purpose of education is to teach key elements of core concepts so that all students have access to basic (“essential”) knowledge. Perennialism believes that focus should be on literature and art.…

Each person has his or her individual path to follow, no two paths are exactly the same; but, every now and then, paths interweave and people construct bonds with each other. In the case of Sonny and his brother, the narrator, in James Baldwin’s short story, “Sonny’s Blues”, their paths were parallel with one another until they grew up. Sonny left the slums of Harlem, aspiring to become a musician, while his brother settled in Harlem and became a teacher. Although the narrator and his brother ended up with completely different lives, the narrator being a family man with a teaching job and Sonny, an ex-convict playing jazz at a club, are ironically more similar than they are portrayed.…

I chose to pursue a teaching career for middle school because I feel that children are at that age where they are interested in everything. They want to know more than what they learned when they were in elementary school and that makes me excited for them. I remember when I was younger when I first told my parents that I wanted to become a teacher because my seventh grade math teacher had the greatest influence on me, and I remember them telling me that becoming a teacher would be a mistake because they didn’t make much money. To this very day, I believe that if you want to become a teacher it’s because you have a big heart and you’re not in it for the income but for the outcome. Hard work and determination will allow me to pay for the things that I want in life, such as my dream house, and children, vacations, cars, and more…

Existentialism is student-centered, with an emphasis on developing an individual. Essentialism is teacher-centered, with an emphasis on teaching essential knowledge (Parkay, 2015, p. 126-128). Both existentialism and essentialism have important attributes that should be incorporated into each classroom. When I enter the field, I hope to not only pull elements from essentialism and existentialism, but also the other philosophies to build a rounded classroom that will cater to every student 's…
