Selective reduction and saline abortion are sometimes confused. Even though they are both methods of abortion and they are similar in the way they abort the baby they are different. They do use the same procedure and have the same risks, however; selective reduction is more about aborting the number of kids you can’t take care of whereas saline abortion is “performed by injecting a chemical solution consisting of either saline, urea, or prostaglandin through the abdomen and into the amniotic sac.
