Who decides which person gets to live? If the mother is at risk of dying during childbirth and an abortion can save her life, who would you save? Where do we draw the line for someone who has established their life and is contributing to society and someone who hasn’t seen a day of light? “In 2015, an estimated 303 000 women died from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth ”. Choosing to get an abortion in a life or death instance is a way for women to save their own lives, instead of giving it up for a chance that the baby may not survive. Along with this is the instance of rape. A woman should not be forced to have the baby of a man who sexually assaulted her. Rape is a traumatic life event, and having a child as a result of this may be a constant reminder of that event. If we lock people up for killing others, why do we allow women to kill their unborn children? The basis of this argument may lie in a religious setting. Many people, especially of the Catholic faith, believe that life begins at conception and a heartbeat forms roughly 18 days after that. Because of this standard, an abortion ends a life and that is murder. The U.S. government recognizes a fetus as a human even though they are unborn. Many states have passed laws against fetal homicide in order to stop the intentional harm to unborn babies. Recently in Washington D.C., President Trump released his new infrastructure plans and the budget along with them. Trump has a tendency to want to restrict reproductive rights, and has openly stated his distaste for Planned Parenthood. His new plan will prohibit funding to Planned Parenthood in order to cut off abortion providing centers from federal assistance. The federal government wants to put an end to abortion funding in efforts to phase out the option all together. Although Roe v.
