In the book The Crucible, Abigail is blamed for many things. She has accused others of witchcraft. These innocent people in Salem are getting arrested by Abigails little tricks. Her actions in the book show that she is not to be trusted. I believe Abigail does deserve to be blamed for the out come of the play.
To begin, Abigail should be blamed for all she has done, here are some reasons why. In the first act Abigail threatens Betty and Mary Warren to keep their mouth shut. On page 20 Abigail tells the girls that they will never see the day of light if they say anything to anyone for what Abigail has done. Betty has seen Abigail drink blood, it was a charm to kill John Proctors wife and Goody Proctor on page 19. She says Tituba is in contact

In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, the characters are so concerned with their reputations that it causes them to lie, go to the gallows, and overestimate their knowledge in the events taking place in Salem. Abigail Williams showed the importance of her reputation by lying and threatening during difficult situations. Abigail “and a group of young girls reportedly danced and practiced abominations in the woods: where the witchcraft hysteria begun.” (1) Abigail’s uncle, Parris, a powerful man in the Salem court, found the groups of girls. They were all accused of witchcraft, a deed punished by death.…

She only does this though, because Elizabeth’s husband had an affair with Abigail. “Pointing to Elizabeth: ‘I saved her life today!’”(Miller 59). This evidence tells us that Elizabeth is blamed and it's pretty obvious who blamed her. It could only be Abigail Williams because she is so thirsty for John Proctor that she will do anything to get him. One of the reasons why Abigail is most to blame for the witch trials is because how often Abigail makes false accusations throughout the play. Firstly, Abigail accuses Tituba of witchcraft right in the beginning when she told the girls that “Tituba conjured Ruth Putnam‘s dead sisters” (Act 1 Scene I). Abigail knew she would be in trouble if anyone found out what the girls were doing in the forest when the townsmen suggested to call Hale, so Abigail automatically…
