To do this activity, I calculated my BAC based off a 12 oz regular beer that contains about 5% alcohol. As a result, my expected BAC after 2 standard drinks within 1 hour was 0.06% and my BAC after 5 standard drinks within 3 hours was 0.1425%. I was very surprised by the findings of this activity and I think what shocked me the most was reading the different predictable effects. For instance, for someone whose BAC is between .05% and .07% is buzzed, minor impairment of reasoning and memory, and driving becomes impaired. On the other hand, the predictable effects for someone whose BAC is between a .11% and .15% is considering drunk, has gross motor impairment, and judgement and perception is severely impaired. This does change how I think about

I volunteered at Jack Jouett Middle School for the eighth-grade AVID program. In the classes, I helped students go through the AVID tutorial process. I functioned as a guide who coached the students through a Socratic process to understand points of confusion from their core classes, and then through collaborative work to understand the steps needed to clarify their point of confusion. All students in the AVID class apply to be in the program. They must have average to high test scores with a C to B+ grade point average.…

I just finished meeting with Robert & Sandra. After consulting with the Senate and UPC chair we have begrudgingly concluded that it would in the best interest of CAECO students to support the following senate motion. The retraction of the motion could result in the likelihood that CAECO majors would have only an approximately 25% chance of being able to register for their desired elective courses. It is important to note that recent history has shown that over 75% of the students enrolled in CAECO electives are non-CAECO majors. After thoughtful deliberation we felt that this would not be an appropriate risk.…

However, this weakness is fixed to my best capability as I found statistics from experiments other people did online to carry out my own experiments and find results. Another major weakness is the fact that I made many assumptions when making the models to simplify the process, where as these assumptions I made could potentially make a great difference towards the results I achieve in the end. I did not make an attempt to try adding all the other factors into my model, as it is too complicated for the purpose of this internal assessment. However, I realized that I could still make in more consideration of the factors of the human body and of different types of alcohol etc. On the other hand, one positive aspect of my experiment is that I achieved results that are ideal and can achieve my purpose—which is to learn more about drunk driving and alcohol level in blood, and also to help others realize when it is okay…

On top of that, I learned about a few careers, and got to listen to some amazing speakers. All of the speakers had great messages. The first one about living in the moment, the last about tomatos, and how to live a better life.…

I would like to thank you for beautiful novel Airborn, for it has truly inspired me. Intrigued by the quick summary on the back of the book, I took it upon myself to read the book itself. I grew attached to the characters, and I found myself unable to put the book down at times. I loved how I could somehow relate to each character throughout the novel, whether they were small similarities or rather big ones. Each character stood out to me in a unique way that changed the way I think and inspired me to act as they do.…

Sandra, I could think of one area in which to me the 5Cs did not do a good enough job for improved patient outcomes and that would be in the area of patient identification because it relies on verbal affirmation of name (Institute for Safe Medical Practices, 2011). I work at the VA and for whatever reason I have and can have three John Richardsons in one night to care for of my six patients all clustered in the same area (some may be spelled slightly different)! Or all my patients or in for the same condition. I have had to stop many doctors from going into the wrong room to consult on a patient when they have just scribbled the name of the patient on a piece of paper. The fundamental issue addressed is how distracted an inattentive and distracted driver is while s/he converses on a cell phone. Car crashes are common and one of the major causes of distracted driving is cell phone usage. Cell phone usage distracts the driver from the primary task of driving. Human brain capacity does not allow humans to multitask, but it is rather a seemingly simultaneous alternation between the two tasks (Strayer, Drews, & Crouch, 2006). This study highlights the impairments associated with cell phone usage while driving.…

In the film Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, it has shown me how much young girls and women in worldwide are not getting the equal opportunities compared to men. As I was watching the film, many young girls are not getting educated due to their non-supportive environments where their family traditions are for women to be working for the family as they do not believe in women getting education, and as a girl they are to be married off to or sell their body to support family financially. Before I watched this film, I knew women in other countries did not get education because their family economic situations and unsupportive family for females in the household, but these ideas were just so normalized to…
