AR-15 Vs Assault Rifle

Two of the most iconic rifles of all time are the AR-15 and the AK-47. America has used some variant of the AR-15 ever since the Vietnam War. The AK-47 has become known as a “bad guy gun,” due to the fact many terrorists and gangs use these rifles commonly. Many people believe that AR is the abbreviation of Assault Rifle. However, AR is actually the abbreviation of Armalite Rifle and the 15 in AR-15 stands for model 15. The AR-15 was designed by Eugene Stoner in 1957. AK-47 is short for Avtomat Kalashnikov. The English translation of Avtomat Kalashnikov is Automatic Kalashnikov. The 47 in its name represents 1947, which is when the rifle was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. Even though both are outstanding rifles, the ballistics, appearance, and the dependability sets apart the AR-15 and the AK-47. The AR-15 fires the 5.56x45mm round. To work properly the AR-15 needs to be cleaned often and cannot be exposed to less than ideal conditions for long. It is said that just “one grain of sand,” inside the receiver can cause an AR-15 to malfunction. The AK-47 may be less accurate and not able to shoot as far but one advantage it has is dependability. The AK-47 is simple to operate and does not need much maintenance. It has been proven one could” take a AK-47 throw it down drag it through dirt and mad, pick it up, wipe off the mud, and start shooting,” with no issues at all. The AR-15 and AK-47 are both popular for different reasons. They also both serve different purposes. The AR-15 is better for long range marksmanship. The AR-15 is limited by the maintenance needed to keep it shooting. The AK-47 is more dependable due to less maintenance needed, but is limited by its accuracy and
