Definition of APS (comprehension): The effective teacher facilitates students’ success by first looking at the SC State standards based on the grade level. Based on the state grade level standards, the effective teacher will then select, plan and teach the appropriate content. Content generally are the facts, theories, and principles of a given subject. The teacher then will come up with multiple strategies for the different learning styles of the students. Such strategies would include being able to reach students that learn kinetically, visually, and verbally. The effective teacher will also provide students with the materials needed to be successful. This lesson plan includes SC standards on a second grade level. The objectives are also pulled from the standards. In the objectives, there is a formative, non-graded, and a summative, graded, assessment. The lesson plan will reach all of the different types of learners. For kinetic learners, students get to participate in a role play opportunity with the teacher. Students will use play money to solve real world story problems. Visual learners will use the play money to answer the questions on their handouts. Lastly, the teacher will talk about the value of all of the money for verbal learners. Verbal learning will also be participating in a role play where they have to listen to what the teacher is saying. The activities used for the objectives will show the teacher if the students understood and learned something from what was taught. This lesson gives students a manipulative experience to help students better understand the lesson. This lesson plan integrates drama where students Assume roles in a variety of improvised and scripted scenes. This lesson was created in EDEL 450 (Fine Arts). There are objectives, based on the standards, for what the teacher expects the students to learn. Included in the objective is an only a summative assessment for students. The summative assessment incorporates a real world story problem where students assume a role of a cashier. Students must be able to give the customer back the correct amount of change.
