From this story, we will be aiming our spotlight on Chig 's father, who was grudge-holding, sentimental, and stubborn. Chig 's father felt a strong favoritism of his mom to his brother, GL, who Chig says “ He had never talked much about his family, with the exception of his brother, GL, who seemed part con man, part practical joker, and part Don Juan;...” (183) . Chig 's father decided to leave for college, he never came back, or even spoke to his son about his family because he could not believe how his mother had favored a hooligan over her most successful son. When he decided to come back, with his son, it ended the way things started, he was still upset and when his mother apologized, he didn’t accept the apology. The actions of favoritism his mother gave GL when they were young stuck around with him, leading him to be distant from his family, and dislike GL strongly even after all those years. Since a very young age my brother and I have been extremely close, but as I began to grow up, we grew closer. The summer before I came into high school, I was extremely nervous. I was scared of this new environment but everyone talked about so dreadfully, I was scared that I wouldn 't get good grades or do well. Of course, I have a tendency to not talk about how I feel to my family, but it really started to show in early August, when I began to hit me how much closer I was to becoming a freshman. My brother called me into his room and told me to sit down. He began to give me a talk about how my life should be going to be for the next four years, what to expect of high school and what I should do about it. He told me it really was another environment, because those four years of sitting in a desk were going to determine where I 'd be the rest of my life. Long-story-short: he inspired me to be a good student, but still have fun with my life and enjoy as much as I could. Those words were a lot of what inspired me into being a part of ASB, which has made my high school experience so much better than it would have been if I wouldn 't have joined. It inspired me to reach out to my school, but also how to stay in and study. The way he impacted me even shows today because I 'm not as lazy as I used to be when I was in sycamore, and he also showed me how to manage time in my personal life, and
