Reflection Paper In ACA, I have learned many valuable learning tools such as time management techniques, focus strategies, study skills, and communication skills. For example, in chapter two, “Managing Your Time,” it explains the best way to prioritize tasks into manageable chunks. Correctly using time management techniques allows a person to complete assignments in a less stressful manner and complete it to the best of his or her ability. Procrastination results in lower grades and higher stress levels. This has been one of the many valuable lessons learned through ACA class. Additionally, chapter six taught me the benefits of “Listening and Taking Notes.” For example, in this chapter I have learned the appropriate note taking skill for myself, which is the list format of note taking. Further more, I have used this format many times in my classes and have passed tests and multiple other assignments. Also, I have learned what does not work for me when taking notes. For example, the Cornell Format and the outline format confused me due to all the numbers and also, side topic format confused me because it does not seem organized and may get confusing. Further more, I learned another skill as well which is test-taking technique that work for myself in chapter nine “Taking Exams and Tests”. …show more content…
For example, I have learned that you need to prepare physically. Such as, getting enough sleep and eating right so you can function at a normal pace. Also, you need to prepare emotionally to function better. How I have learned to prepare by relaxing and keeping a positive attitude about the exam and criteria. As stated earlier I have also learned the valuable skill of time management which is fount in the textbook in chapter two it explains the best way to prioritize tasks into manageable chunks. Correctly using time management techniques allows a person to complete assignments in a less stressful manner and complete it to the best of his or her ability. Procrastination results in lower grades and higher stress levels. Further more I have learned many valuable reading techniques as well through out chapter seven “Reading for Success”. It explains in this chapter that you need many reading skills to successfully preform while reading using some skills. Such as, as the skill of marking in your textbook helps you when referring to something you learned and helps you remember when you state it. Also another thing that helps is the skill of concentrating even if that means taking notes to concentrate on what you are reading to understand it as well. Also the way you view you academic success is an important skill that you need to learn. In chapter eleven “Appreciating Diversity” you are learning to accept the diversity of the your success compared to others. For, example everyone learns at a different pace others may be rapidly learning one this and others may not be you will just need to learn how you learn. Which learning how you learn leads us into chapter four “How You Learn”. Learning how you learn is key to learning something so you may achieve academic success. Further more, application of these skills and ideas in the future is an excellent choice. Some of these skills fount in the text book are very useful to some and to others they are not, but in some instances we uses these skills with out even knowing. Such as time management, we manage out time when we are cooking. While we are cooking we may put certain this on because they take longer and we may start preparations for something that doesn 't take much time after words to make sure they both get done in the time they need to be done. Also learning techniques such as taking notes is shown numerous times with out us knowing it. Such as when we see a recipe when and we wish to make something similar so we copy it down and use them to make the finished product. In this class I have discover myself through out the learning of these important learning skills. Self motivation was a factor of learning majority of these techniques for learning better. I used self motivation by a self reward system and also by telling myself this class

This helps me see what main points I need to study and what minor points I can skim over. I used this skill on my last exam and it helped me get a better grade than I expected. Looking at the test questions for clues helps me understand what the question is focusing on so I can remember the exact topic and hopefully pick the correct answer.
