A Not-for-Profit Organization Based on the website of Investopedia.com, a not-for-profit organization is a type of organization that does not earn profits for its owners. All of the money earned by or donated to a not for profit organization is used in pursuing the organization's objectives. Typically not for profit organizations are charities or other types of public service organizations. Most not for profit organizations can apply for tax exemption. Funds and resources are the lifeline of a not-for-profit organization. The major problems of the organization are growing demand and limited funds which, if not addressed properly, can lead to termination of the organization. When resources are almost exhausted, the leaders should come up with a solution right away to stop the organization from closing. The project objective of the organization is to be able to acquire resources on a regular basis. They will also be needing more volunteers and more storage to cope up with the growing demand. The first suggestion given by Rosemary Olsen, vice president, is to have a fundraising project. Fundraising is the process of gathering voluntary contributions of money or other resources, by requesting donations from individuals, businesses, charitable foundations, or governmental agencies. Although fundraising typically refers to efforts to gather money for non-profit organizations, it is sometimes used to refer to the identification and solicitation of investors or other sources of capital for for-profit enterprises. Time constraint is one of them since they need the money in about two months. Planning and organizing such event can be really time consuming. They need to comply with the registration laws such as filing financial documents, paying fees, etc. and the processing time of the requirements needed should be considered especially with government offices. The organization has no control over that and there will be a big problem if there will be delays. If in case the fundraising project can be finished within two months time and it became successful, the benefits of it will only be short term. It won't be able to sustain the organization's operations in the future. A second suggestion given by Steve Andrews, volunteer coordinator, is to ask for an increase in their allocation of funds from the government, however the government don't have enough funds as well and they may also cut the allocation for the organization. Eventually, the organization will have to disregard this option since there is no guarantee and a minimal chance that the government will be able to provide their request. The best solution is to acquire an established source
