Purpose: The purpose of this articles was to describe a middle-range theory of self-care in chronic illness and emphasized on the concept, assumption, proposition, and other factors affecting self-care in the particular context.

The self-care maintenance was the behaviors performed by patients with chronic illness to maintain their physical and emotional status for improving the well-being. Next, the self-care monitoring was defined as the processes of individually observing for their changes in signs and symptoms which called as
“body listening” that is a normal behavior of human. Lastly, the self-care management was the response that reaction to the sign and symptoms that occurred in the patients.
Relationships: This self-care concept involved with the three principle components which were not associated together as a linear components or ordinal steps, but it was a dynamic. Moreover, the self-care monitoring was the linked between the self-care maintenance and the self-care management. In addition, there were 2 processes, decision making and reflection, underlying the self-care. As per, the outcomes of self-cafe were international and unintentional self-care.
