Lacrosse, also known as Baggataway, was a form of sport and recreation that the First Nations also used for ceremonial and religious purposes. Lacrosse also was used for training for war, to heal the sick and used to honor the dead. This First Nations sport can be seen as being a sport that addresses all parts of life. Firstly, Aboriginals excelled in this team sport when they won many Dominion Championships from 1867 to 1880 (Cosentino, 1998, p.…
The Hillsborough Middle School Girls Lacrosse Team had an exceptional season, finishing with a strong record of 11-5. Although the team suffered a tough loss during the semi-finals in a close game against Montgomery, they each blossomed as not only players but people. Tessa Norfleet, one of the team's three captains, shared her thoughts on the season. She stated, “Though we unfortunately did not win the championship this year, it’s important to see how far our team has come since tryouts.…

Lacrosse was the first sport ever invented on American soil; it was here before European explorers set foot in North America. It was invented and found it’s roots in various Native American and Canadian Indian tribes. Lacrosse is currently the fastest-growing sport in the United States, and the fourth-fastest growing game worldwide. Although modern-day lacrosse has it’s fair share of trials, tribulations, and controversies, it is a fundamental part of American history, and has shaped the creation and growth of…

I would definitely consider the job that I had during my internship as a future career. Lacrosse is something that I am very passionate about, and I want it to be part of my life even after I stop playing. I am also really interested in business administration and sports management. My internship gave me the opportunity to grow and expand my skill set, and also learn a great deal about what I want to do after college. Interning at Revolution Lacrosse (REV), I was able to learn so much about sports management, how it works, and how it can be applied in the workforce.…

Gone Home is a narrative exploration game by the company Fullbright that stars Kaitlin Greenbriar returning to her family home after being overseas. Gone Home is often questioned on the complexity of its game play, and is often thought to be more of an interactive story, however it does fulfill the requirements of a game and I will be discussing various game play mechanics in Gone Home such as the different objects and their attributes, rules for game play and the overall design that help to support the narrative, as well as how all of this is used to create an effective story and why this is the best medium for such a story. I will start by giving the briefest of summaries; the game opens with Kaitlin, who we control in a first person perspective, returning home to a locked house all set in the 90s Their is a note left…
Around the 1630s, French Jesuit missionaries sailed to the St. Lawrence Valley and were inspired by the game of lacrosse played by the Native Americans. Jean de Brebeuf was the first European to document the game in 1636. After recording one of the Huron’s contests, he would officially name the sport “lacrosse.” The reason it is called lacrosse is that Crosse means stick with a curve end, which would look similar to a bishop crozier.…
As we marched off the bus in Solon, Iowa, I knew we were going to have to play our best game in order to win. Our main motivation was that if we won, we made it to the UNI-Dome. Playing in the UNI-Dome was a childhood dream of mine and it was just within reach. The game was a blur and before I knew it, the contest ended. As the final whistle blew, my emotions took over.…
