There were a multitude of cards that were possible to play. Maybe the friend card, or the humor card but I feel that these would of taken away from the speech. The cards he played fit with each other in a perfect way and I personally don’t think I would add any card at all. Adding a card would change the whole style of the speech. King’s speech was to empower his people. He wanted to rekindle what they had started and let everyone else know they would not stop fighting until they were treated equally. The audience were memorized by his message. Everyone came for slightly different reasons and King satisfied all of them. Some were looking for hope others were just trying to fuel the battle they had been fighting their whole lives. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. captivated everyone and not only met expectations but exceeded them.
Identifying as a leader King asked his audience to take on the role of followers. He succeeded in inspiring them in hopes that they would then follow or continue to follow him in the fight against segregation and systematic racism.
