Just about every position available as a sports psychologist requires at least a master’s or doctorate degree in clinical psychology, sports psychology or counseling. Because this is such a new field of psychology, not very many schools offer a sports psychology program in Georgia. There are sports psychology programs out there but they aren’t everywhere. While the career of sports psychology does sound interesting to me, the career path I am interested is not very psychology related. While I do enjoy sports, I don’t actively enjoy them too often. Because of this, this type of career would not be best suited for me. While I had thought about possibly becoming some type of psychologist or counselor at some point for quite some time, I decided to change the course of my future career after working with Valdosta State University’s Housing and Residence Life Department by choosing to pursue a master’s degree in higher education leadership and administration. I love interacting with and being around college students and pursuing an educational leadership degree will allow me to do so in capacities such as advising, student life, housing and residence
