Less than a month after the attack United States president George W. Bush declared war on Afghanistan, its lead terrorist group Al-Qaeda, and its Taliban government. Essentially, America wanted retaliation on what is known as the world’s largest terrorist attack. President Bush sent millions of troops overseas in what was thought as the right decision. Stated by Matthew Green, “According to U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, roughly three million Americans entered military service between 2001 and 2011, and nearly two million were deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq.” Evidently, Americans wanted to show off their patriotism to the country eventually causing harm to themselves instead. Today every person has to go through full body scans, occasional pat-downs as well as identification check-points. Years before 9/11 outside liquid was allowed, any size toiletries were acceptable in airports. Today, only purchased at the airports are allowed and only three ounce toiletries can be accepted. Suddenly, the government created what is known as Transportation Security Administration (TSA). TSA is constructed agency with new procedures and managing screening at every commercial checkpoint in the country. Sara Steedman writes, “28,000 airport baggage screeners [are] federal workers, all checked baggage is to be inspected with explosives detection machines.” This gives America a sense of protection that trying another stunt like the one happening on September 11th will in fact be much difficult. Also, TSA has the permission from the government to use a watch list of individuals who could pose flight safety
