First, the movie was able to exhibit the country of Hawaii. Though a lot of movies have the same setting as 50 First Dates, the setting of the movie, contributed to the novelty and improved the aesthetic areas of the film than any other places could have done. Next, the storyline of the movie has shown a good pace of scenes. There are no relapses nor confusing scenes that may complicate the story. The subplots are also well-tied together and no scenes has baffled the storyline. Lastly, the opposition of forces or conflicts was splendidly presented such as when Henry, who is afraid of commitment, became seriously in love with Lucy but later discovered that Lucy has a short-term memory. Despite of that, Henry strived hard not just to win Lucy’s heart but also the trust of Lucy’s family and friends. Things went right after Marlin and Doug, Lucy’s family, realized that Lucy can live a normal life and decided to allow Henry to be with her, but it didn’t last when Lucy made up her mind to break up with Henry because she learned that Henry’s willing to give up his dreams just be with her, she doesn’t want to be selfish to hinder him from reaching his dreams and decided that Henry’s better off without her. It is very evident that the main characters as well as the whole cast portrayed their characters very well. They were successful in showing different personalities and act as if it’s not scripted nor directed. On the other hand, there are things, such as using crude remarks and inappropriate costumes that could have been removed and improved in the movie. The movie may not be suitable for all ages for it has explicit and sexual jokes. Some words used were too vulgar and foul. Doug Whitmore, Lucy’s brother, and Ula, Henry’s friend, were seen in the movie wearing clothes that are inappropriate as well. Nevertheless, they were able to convey the sole purpose of the movie, to showcase an unconditional love added with a humorous twist. As a matter of fact, in 2004, Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore received the MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Duo and a year after, they also received the People’s Choice Award for Favorite On-Screen Chemistry for portraying the main characters in the movie 50 First Dates. In addition, the people behind the movie also did great in their works making it one of the best romantic comedy movies ever made.
There are a lot of romantic comedy movies to choose from, but there’s only a few that is really worth-watching for. A movie that has an exemplary plot that features the versatility of its actors, the splendid work of the whole production
