Tyson, as he sat alone in his dorm room, reflected on the events of the past couple of years. He felt his mission was a great spiritual building experience and he found joy in witnessing a number of individuals’ join the church. His homecoming was a mixed event of joys and sorrows. A big disappointment came when his older brother refused to come because the Church had joined with other religious and civic entities that were trying to defeat a gay marriage law in the state in which he and his partner were living. His parents also tragically announce that after 41 years of marriage they were getting a divorce. In many cases his world appeared to be turning upside down. The only current happy moment was the fact that Jenny, his girl friend from high school, not only was still around but was attending the …show more content…

Tyson and Jenny have decided to move forward with their marriage. However they have decided to get married civilly first and then after a year if their “love” is strong they will get sealed in the temple. Both Tyson and Jenny have prayed many times concerning their decision and feel that it is the right thing for them. Tyson, being an endowed member of the Church also had gone to the temple with their request and feels that he has received the answer that for them, their decision is the right one.

They have a meeting this evening with their college Bishop and plan on telling him of their decision.
