-Meristem in plants contain Undifferentiated cells and cell division in the meristems provide new cells for expansion and differentiation of tissues.

-Located in apical regions I E the growing tips of the shoots and roots.
-they are responsible for an increase in length or height.

-Primary tissues are formed from the primary meristems,
-three primary meristems are produced from the apical meristem
-protoderm forms from the epidermis
-the ground meristem forms the pith, cortex and mesophyll
-procambium forms the primary xylem and phloem (vascular bundles)
