In “You May ask yourself” by Conley Dalton, she talks about social movements and rituals. She describes social movement as “collective behavior becomes purposeful, organized, and institutionalized.” She mentions how social movements are not ritualized. They don’t happen the same time every year. The social movement is aimed at changing something about society. Several examples of social movements would be civil rights movement, environmental movement, labor movement, feminist movement. Social movements include meetings and commitment from each individual participating in the movement. Social movements usually begin through informal social networking. Conley also mentions how there four different types of social movements.
