During the 1920s and the 1930s American was in a state of depression as a result of the stock market crash and bank failures. This drove many Americans into a state of poverty and devastation, this was called the Great Depression and in 1939 World War 2 began. This was one of the darkest periods of time for the world as everything was thrown into chaos. Tempted to stay out of the war, the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, brought the U.S. into World War 2. Even though the war was fought abroad, it had a greatly affected many Americans.…
Changes And Continuities In Post World War 2 America Especially during the time period of 1945-1961, there was an abundance of changes throughout the country, especially social changes. New ideas were blossoming, more and more people were leaving the traditional ideals of America and being more rebellious, fighting for civil rights and doing other liberal-centered stereotypes, like listening to rock music and writing or making art depicting what they felt was a boring, simple country. On the other hand, conservatives stayed with tradition and built the “American Dream”, with a suburban house, stay at home mothers, working fathers, and expensive appliances that were not necessary but advertised. There were many changes in the conformity or lack thereof to American…
WWII was a turning point for American and its people, because it changed the status of the US. The home front changed with migration, there was a new race, gender, and new economic opportunities. The USG mobilized the industry, labor, and science/technology. The nation was unprepared for war. The war initially went bad for Allies.…
World War II left a permanent mark on the world. Gunshots could not be taken back and people are not disposable. That fact had to be set aside in order to defend what we believed in. The Holocaust; a destructive battle that the Jews would fight for with their lives.…
When war is declared it is the entire country’s effort that leads to the success of the war. The act of declaring war is one of the most serious decisions a nation makes. War should only be waged when the nation is completely and undoubtedly devoted to winning. World War II was the last war in the modern era to directly affect the everyday lives of Americans. The effects of the war such as rations, job growth, industrial evolution, and cultural change in America were felt by every American regardless of their distance from the front lines.…
In my opinion I believe that WWII was the last total war of the modern era. Total war can be described as a war that is unrestricted in terms of the weapons used, civilians, territory or combatants involved, or the objectives pursued especially one in which the laws of war are disregarded. The war changed the world of work for women, when men went to fight women were called upon to fill their jobs and this included many jobs that were previously thought of unsuitable for women. Women played a key role in war industries doing jobs like repairing airplanes, as laboratory technicians, rigged parachutes and served as radio operators. Civilian casualties made up 2/3 of deaths in world war II.…
Just a few years after the last global conflict, the Second World War began. World War II was the most deadly and most widespread war in history. World War II was the most significant period of the 20th century. It brought about major leaps in technology and increased groundwork which permitted post-war social changes. WWII also made changes in the civil rights movemen, and the modern women’s rights movement, and also the programs for exploring outer space.…
In unit 5, I learned a lot about the executive order of 9066 during the World War II. In high school and middle school the subject of the Pearl Harbor attack was a little vague compared to what I know now. We only learned the events leading up to the attack and what happen after the attack. We never learned what the Japanese Americans had to go through and how they were discriminated against. They forced to leave their houses, business, farms, schools, and jobs to go into a refugee camp due to Americans fearing the unknown.…
World War II is widely codisered to be the "last good war", meaing that compared to the following wars, Korean and Vietnam, we had a clear goal and achieved victory of that goal. The first consequence I am going to list is a good consequence, being the defeat of Nazism and Fascism, and everything that they stand for, converting countries like Germany, Italy, and Japan to democracy. The next consequenct of World War II is, obviously, the death count of the Jewish people. Over 6 million Jews died during the war due to the Nazi party. Another consequence of this war was the amunt of overall deaths are estemated to be between 50 and 80 million, including every country and every death caused by the war.…
World War II took place from 1939-1945. It was a war in which women had to take on responsibilities that had previously been unavailable to them to compensate for the roles of men whilst they were away at war. The impact of World War II had repercussions for Australian society. The changing roles of women during World War II impacted upon both Australian women and men.…
The Aftermath of World War II In 1939 the world was at war, and nothing would ever be the same. Adolf Hitler was the man that was responsible for the millions of lives lost. Wanting to restore Germany to her formal glory, Hitler thought of doing so through racial dominance. Cities were bombed, civilians brutally killed, and mass genocide was committed.…
Turning point of the World War II World War II practically included every country in this world and was a major loss for humanity. Despite the diverse opinions of many historians, the Battle of Stalingrad is considered to be the turning point of World War II on Eastern front. The Eastern Front - a conflict in which Germany, Italy and Japan became a major threat to humanity. With Germany gaining victory battle by battle, there had to be a point where victory would come to the side of the defeated.…
The chaos and confusion formed in Europe after World War I laid the foundation for what would soon be a global war even more devastating than the first, and only two decades later. The Second World War was an onslaught of the western hemisphere originally brought on by Germany, and then followed by Italy and Japan. Millions died on both sides of the war, either fighter for mass unity or mass freedom. It was a dark age of mass genocide towards Jews and other minorities in Germany, as well as the deaths of thousands resulting from the atomic bombs dropped on Japan. Not much came from the war, other than the ash and rubble of cities that required reconstruction, except for one outcome.…
World War 2 has forever changed the way wars are fought, the…
Christian Dior’s The Bar Suit (The New Look) of the collection La Ligne Corolle was a significant moment in contemporary fashion. Why was the New Look by Christian Dior a shock for women’s fashion after the World War II? Did it set the tone for the future? The Second World War shook the vast majority of the world’s countries from 1939 to 1945.…
