working in a team there are many conflicts that can lead to a dysfunctional team. But knowing
how to solve the dysfunctionality of the team will improve how the team works together. In the
textbook the most important thing was having a defined purpose and mission that the team is
working towards. According to Suzan Raines (2013)
“When creating teams, consider their primary purpose. Teams tasked with
creative duties will need to have maximum diversity, including diverse
demographic characteristics as well as educational backgrounds and life
experiences. Teams implementing policies or changes will need good

It makes sure
everyone involved with the team understands how much dedication is expected of them, and they
are committing to attend practices so that the team will perform well at contest. This way there is
no surprises on when practices are scheduled for and also that attendance is mandatory from all
members on the team. With having commitment time outlined this should resolve the lack of
commitment by members on the team, since they clearly understand what is being expected of
them.
The second major problem was team member’s not taking accountability for their own
actions and blaming others for poor performance. When it’s not one person’s fault that the team
failed, but rather the team as a whole didn’t meet expectations. According to “How to Be an

completion of most team-building tasks requires cooperation, listening to others, sharing
of ideas or the willingness to try new approaches. Most team-building programs aim to
help participants see how they can apply similar skills and techniques at work.”
This article shows how important team bonding exercises are and that they account for helping
building trust with in teams. Through bonding exercises we open the line of communication in a
non-judgement manner. Letting everyone on the team feel confident in sharing their ideas
knowing no one is going to judge that, but rather hear them out and actually get to know the
individual on a personal level. When trust is established in a team it leads to knowing that
everyone is committed to the purpose of the team, and that everyone has respect and
understanding of each other’s role on the team.
