There are three types of styles the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. The Doric is the simplest style of all and is the style that is used more commonly for temple architecture. Ionic was more commonly used for small temples. Corinthian, on the other hand was different because of its detailed column. Corinthian style later became a favorite within the architecture community. Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian all formed the outside structured appearance of a temple that we still see today. The most commonly heard of architectural structure that is still admired today is The Parthenon in Athens, Greece. The Parthenon has had a great influence in architecture throughout history. It is composed of single Doric columns, which hold the building in place. The columns were not built in a straight line, instead they are entasized. This is because they wanted to create distortions in order for viewers to see the perfect proportioned shaped building, even in the distance.
