The main causes that America had to find their independence were the taxes. During the French and Indian war (1754-1763) Great Britain fought against the French to protect the American colonies. Due to that, the Great Britain suffered a severe financial loss. To compensate, the British King and the parliament imposed high taxes to the American colonies while refusing to permit their representation in the Government of Great Britain.
