Why Did Islam Spread so Fast?
In 610 A.D Muhammad got a message from the Angel Gabriel inside a cave a cave in the Arabian Peninsula and about 2 years later Muhammad spread the message that Gabriel told him. But why did Muslim spread so fast? Other people might think otherwise, but the main two reasons that contributed to Islam growing is Military conquest and treaties taxes, and toleration.
To begin with, the treaties, taxes, and toleration were one of the reasons Islam spread so fast. With the tribute from the treaties, the Islamic empire gets more wealth which equals better army and power. The treaty that stopped the Christians and the Muslims from fighting say that “ . . . not be coerced into matters of religion ... .as long as he remains sincere and fulfills these conditions . . . He and his men shall pay one dinar every year, together with four measures of wheat, four measures of barley, four liquid measures of concentrated fruit juice, four liquid measures of vinegar, four of honey, and four of olive oil”. With all of that, they gain wealth which means better army which means more power. This source is reliable because it is a treaty, you can’t change it that much and it was probably a message for other empire saying that they're powerful. The reason that they were wealth was that they had a strong army even before they were wealthy. A Muslim Historian named Ahmad al-Biladuri states “ ... .Greeks and their follower in this battle tied themselves to each other by chains . . . In this battle 24,000 Muslim took part. By Allah’s help, some 70,000 of them were put to death and their remnants took to flight”. The numbers 70,000 Christians vs. 24,000 Muslims is a big stretch even though the Greeks were tied with chains aren’t they trained to go into battle with chains on.
