The first reason why the witches hold the most power to influence the actions of others is because they make predictions and Macbeth believes them. “Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn The power of man for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth” (IV. i. 79-81). Another prediction is when they say “Be lion-metted, proud, and take no care who chafes, who frets, or where conspires are. Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him” (IV. i. 90-94). The witches help to put ideas in Macbeth’s mind.

An example is when he asked the witches about their predictions and was falling for it. “Tell me, thou unknown power” (IV. i. 68). Macbeth kept wanting to know more and more “Whate’er thou art, for thy good caution, thanks. Though hast harped my fear aright. But one word more” (IV. i. 73-74). But I blame the witches because they gave him a lot of ideas and made him believe them. If the witches never told him about their predictions, Macbeth would have different ideas.
