We are currently sitting at a D+ for physical literacy of eight to twelve year old in the ParticpACTION Report Card (ParticipACTION, 2016). That means that a majority of students about to enter Jr. High do not met the four indicators of physical literacy. The four indicators are functional capacities, contextualized capacities, expressive possibilities and flow consciousness (Robinson & Randall, 2013, p. 320). That means students are not moving competently and confidently in variety physical activities and different environments that will benefit their development as a healthy and well rounded individual. High. I want to teach so there a fewer women like my friend who didn’t become active till her mid twenties and who without a pushy best friend would only exercise to fit in a pair of pants better. I want to help gentlemen too so they can also lead healthy lives. Although if I 'm being honest I feel more women give up and hate exercising earlier on and I want to teach Jr. High so that I will be able to change that. My biggest hope about teaching is that I can help students find a physically active activity that they love and will continue with for the rest of their lives. I feel the best way to do this is to have my student participate in a myriad of different physical activities in as wide a range of environments that I can possibly provide.
