The poem The Book by Miller Williams is a morbid yet sorrowful poem illustrating the ignorance of mankind. A man picks up a random book and writes his whole life in it, years later he takes the book to a bookbinder who then informs the man that its made out of human flesh. It’s then that the readers find out the ghoulish theme crescendoing upon this poem, underlining the tragedy of mankind's ignorance. Following the narrative of this poem can cause confusion to many, Miller often switches from narrator to first person in efforts to engage the readers, the switching of nerative is also a way to pass off blame.…
The fiber evidence played an overwhelming role in the conviction of Wayne Bertram Williams for multiple reasons, primarily because the prosecution was able to link twenty-eight different types of fibers to Williams and his victims (Saferstein, 2015). Furthermore, the fibers located on the victims were unusually shaped yellow-green fibers, which matched the carpet in the Williams’s home (Saferstein, 2015). The fiber evidence gained additional credibility for the prosecution when they discovered the carpet was manufactured in relatively small quantities (Saferstein, 2015). Additionally, the twenty-eight fibers located on the victims were eventually traced to various items in Williams’s possession to include: the carpet in the Williams’s home,…
The Family of Brother Michael Williams The textbook says, “In their efforts to understand diverse family response to stressful events, family scholars have used the ABCX model developed by Reuben Hill.” (Lauer, 2012) In applying this model to Brother Michael Williams’ experience, I would assign his brother’s illness and the decision as to whether he should remain on life support or not as the “A” in the model. This is defined as “the stressor event and the hardships it produces.”…
The most televised trial in recorded history was a murder trial where a famous NFL football player was accused of murder. The O.J. Simpson murder trial was controversial because of numerous reasons. He pled not guilty to the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. The evidence and the time leading up to his arrest would make anyone believe that he was guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, but the jury in 1995 found him not guilty. I believe that there is overwhelming evidence against O.J. Simpson, and he should have been found guilty for two murders.…
Claude Jones: Innocent or Guilty? Texas is the state with the highest execution rate in terms of number of executed people in the United States of America. There are many convicted criminals who have been sentenced to death here, and eventually executed. Claude Jones was one of them. Jones was, however, a brutal man; he even set a fellow inmate afire during a twenty-one year prison sentence he was serving in Kansas.…
When Coach Chris Wayne accepted the job as an assistant men’s basketball coach of the North East Arizona Sand Vipers, he was unaware that the job would come with a bunch of snakes in the grass. Coach Wayne was a high profile Division II coach but knew that if he wanted his coaching to take the next step he knew that he would have to move on to the Division 1 ranks. John Locke was the head coach of the Sand Vipers when Jack Hume (athletic director) decided he would bring in Wayne. Locke soon realized that this assistant coach, which athletic director John Hume brought in was a preview of what would come after the post-Locke era at North East Arizona. “Do you think we’re all just products of our environments?” His smile dissolved into a smirk, with the left side of his face resting at ease. “I think so, or maybe products of our expectations.” “Other’s expectations of us or our expectations for ourselves?” “I mean others’ expectations that you take on as your own.”…
During the 1950’s the idea of “separate but equal” continued to be a prominent ideology in the United States, particularly in the Southern states. It was not until after World War II and the Cold War that international concerns provoked Americans to rethink about the domestic issues about human rights within the country. The United States had became the leader in preventing the spread of communism to parts of the world, but refused to realize that segregation and the denial of human rights made the United States existed. The United States was in a way hyprocrite to the causes it was fighting for. In Robert F. Williams’ book, Negroes with Guns, he addresses the international concerns that influenced the strategies pursued by Williams and other civil rights activists.…
Winnoa Ryder is incorrect in her assumption that Abigal Williams is not a true villain. First, Abigal Is in full control of herself and there can be no denying it. Thorough pages 1128-1133 it can be noticed and observed that Abigail easily and convincingly lies to Mister Parris. Most assuredly, only someone that has complete control of their facilities could lie so well. Next, Abigal attempts to gain John Procters help, if she believed in her own words she would have no need for Johns help or agreement.…

“I advocated violent self-defense because I don’t really think you can have a defense against violent racists and against terrorists unless you are prepared to meet violence with violence, and my policy was to meet violence with violence” (Negros with Guns). These are the words that Robert Williams often advocated. This is the main thing that differentiated Martin Luther King Jr., and Robert Williams. Robert Williams felt that violence was the only answer, where Martin Luther felt that there were other ways other than violence. That’s a main reason why King was more popular than Williams.…
Williams, the best hitter in the history of baseball, was wildly popular at the time. Williams had won two of the last four Most Valuable Player awards in the MLB and was fresh of his 1949 MVP campaign (Montville p. 148). He also was placed in high regards after serving as a pilot in the Marines during World War II. However, once Williams returned from World War II, he was placed on inactive reserves.…
This also created bias judgement from the judge, David Burnett, who continuously denied innocence of suspects, although strong supporting evidence was present. One of the evidence found was a piece of hair on one of the boy’s shoe lances. With use of advanced DNA technology, the hair was tested and a connection was made with one of the stepfathers, Terry Hobbs. Hobbs told the cops that he had not seen any of the boys that day, but a witness from his neighbourhood contradicted his statement. Due to the bias judgement of the police officers during the investigation, no one took time to question Hobbs’ neighbours to support his statement, but inevitably took his word for it.…
