He put emotion over order in his poems and adopted romantic themes with very subjective point of view. It can be said that everything he put on the paper was his own condition and emotion and he described his life and experience, his thinking, through the poetry. According this features he is considered to be one of the Neo-Romantic poets.
„Thomas´s grand Romantic themes offer a sharply defined and repeated structure. This, rather than incoherence , is the identifying feature of Thomas´ Neo Romanticism.“ ( CORCORAN, p.140 ).
Talking about the distinction of Thomas from other authors, and his classification, his specific use of language and style must be mentioned. Thomas was using words differently than other poets before him. He was taking a risk by combining complex words together that seemed to have no correlation. He was using words as they were their own subjects, standing alone and resisted making poetry in the way that it makes sense as prose does. (GOODBY)
