The majority of people would not be able to personally kill an animal to get the meat they provide to us for the fact that they themselves would be taking an organism’s life. Even when individuals are going out to the grocery store, many get skirmish when seeing the jars of pigs feet or the fish that is still have their eyeballs. The vegan diet is often recommended as dietary therapy for heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, strokes, and many other health problems, like asthma and depression.2 It has also been used to help with obesity, which is also a cause of many health problems. Even though, there are some vitamins and minerals that are not found in plants, there are always supplements that can be taken to prevent a deficiency in the body. Plant based foods could also be fortified2, which means those foods would be added with some vitamins and/or minerals to help with the absence of them in plants originally. Despite the mineral calcium and vitamin D being found in some plants, many still believe that drinking milk is a better option for obtaining vitamin D and calcium to prevent bone damage. In the article “Diet-Diary: Rethinking Calcium-Osteoporosis Beliefs,” Ishi Khosla explains that having an excessive intake of calcium could actually be causing bones to be weaker.6 Also, Khosla states that in Asian countries, where calcium intake is overall low, there are the least amount of bone fractures there.6 Again, there are some people whose ancestor’s diet contained more meat, but there are also those who would be able to make the switch and not be as affected by it because their ancestor’s diet was centered around plants.5 People should learn about what genetica makeup they have in order to properly construct a vegan diet plan. Overall, the veganism diet is majorly beneficial to one’s health; and where it lacks with proper nutrition, it is easily made up with other ways of obtaining those nutrients. It is not only good for an individual’s health, but it is also good for the environment and other animal’s well

Eating Responsibly Instead of Recklessly The most pressing issue facing American health today lies in the increasing number of obese people. When analyzing the two texts Don’t Blame the Eater and Against Meat, both authors messages combine to form the idea that food is much more than the enemy and we must take responsibility for our own eating failures. Against Meat identifies how we are in control of our choices and we should be more aware of what we are eating.…
