Leaders are often seen as role models in the workplace. Therefore, their feedback weighs heavily on their associates. Positive feedback allows employees the opportunity to know when they are doing something well, that their efforts are valuable and that they contribute to the organization . Negative feedback allows employees the opportunity to learn where they can improve and what actions they can take to meet the expectations placed on them (Folkman, 2013). Even if it is difficult, most people value honesty and truthfulness. Giving feedback can allow employees the chance to improve their success (Folkman, 2013). However, giving feedback is only useful if it is delivered well. Otherwise, employees will view their feedback as a penalty rather than a reward (Folkman,
