In to Kill a Mockingbird, The Outsiders and The Book Thief, death is brave, gallant and undeserving. Rudy, Rosa, Hans and all of the people in Liesel’s life die in a bombing attack which devastates her because she loved them so much. Everyone she loved died except her because she was too busy reading in the bomb shelter because she was upset. Liesel was sad and hurt but put on a brave facade for the crowd because she was terrified of what would come next because everyone she cared about died or left her. Scout and Jem’s mother dies before the story starts, Tom Robinson is killed after imprisonment which was his choice, Bob Ewell was killed trying to murder kids, Boo kills Bob in defense of the kids and Mrs. Dubose dies free. All of these moments lead up to calamity that made life so hectic and stressful for everyone included. They were mostly all choosing to do something that would benefit a life and not bring sorrow into it. Dally is shot by a policeman when his gun was not loaded, which he knew so technically he committed suicide and Johnny died a hero, saving little kids from a fire. Hans hands a piece of bread to an old, suffering Jewish man who is marching down the streets; thus, the outcome of that was both of them getting whipped for doing the right things. Hans is a kind man with a big heart, yet gets punished for doing the right thing. He gallantry shows through in that he knew he was going to get in trouble, but he couldn't bear to see the feeble old man struggle any longer. Boo courageously, after hiding away for most of his life, ventures out into the woods with a knife and gallantly kills Bob, saving Scout and Jem’s life. Boo is a brave man that got beaten down by everyone calling him names and being terrified of him when no one even knew his story. At the end of the novel, everyone discovered that he was a kind hearted man that cared for people and for their safety. The teenage boys bravely run into the burning church, risking their lives for the little kids and saved them. They are so brave because without them, the kids would not of survived and that, would've been absolutely tragic. The lesson here is that sometimes you have to put the lives of others before you to be a ture hero. All these actions were a true and honest portrayal of pure courage. Tragedy is something
