A tragic hero appear in tragedy such as this one. In act one, Captain says, “for brave macbeth (well he deserves that name), disdaining fortune, with his brandished steel”(1.2.15-16). The antagonist can also be a force of nature. In Act 1, the witches say, “first witch: all hail, macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis! Second witch: All hail, Macbeth! Hail to the, Thane of Cawdor! Third witch: All Hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!” (1.3.48-50) The witches weren’t the reason macbeth became a murder or turned greedy. Their intentions weren’t in the wrong and actually wanted to give people hope and encourage them to work harder. But of course with greed and lust, Macbeth and his wife turned the witches prophecy into something dark. In Act 5, Macduff says, “Despair thy charm, and let angel whom they still hast served. Tell thee macduff was from his mother’s womb untimely ripped” (5.8.13-16). With is family having been killed by both macbeth and lady macbeth, he believed in order to feel at peace and for both Duncan and his family’s murder to have justice, he had to kill Macbeth.
