The Governor’s home is described with fine detail, and obviously it is the most marvelous looking home or building in the town. His over the top home seems perfect to Hester, and it does not seem to fit within the Puritan town. “...The brilliancy might have benefitted Aladdin’s palace, rather than the mansion of a grave old Puritan ruler (Hawthorne 92). In 2017 the Federal Communications Commission of the United States decided to repeal net neutrality. Net neutrality is a set of rules of which protected the consumers of the internet from their internet service providers by not allowing internet service providers to throttle or block any sites on the internet. Ajit Pai, the Federal Communications Commission Chairman claims that the repeal will create a more open and free internet, and that everyone will get equal access to the internet without paying any additional fees. Ajit Pai is hypocritical because in previous years, internet service providers such as AT&T and Verizon have been caught slowing speeds of their competitor’s websites like Netflix, even though it was illegal at the time (Thielman). The Governor is similar to the internet service providers when he illegally wears nice clothing, and owns a beautiful home because they both are an example of a higher power trying to get away with something illegal. Another example of hypocrisy from an outside example is Donald Trump’s “support” for clean air and water since his election in 2017. He has claimed multiple times that he wants to work towards protecting clean environments since his election. During his first address to Congress he mentioned that he wants to promote clean air and water; on the same day he signed an executive order to review an environmental policy set in place by the previous president
