The society being one of their conflicts, Katniss and Peeta are forced to attend the
Panem Games according to the Capitol. They both cannot forfeit from the game or else they will become executed, leaving them no choice but to fight for survival instead. They also face conflicts with themselves respectively because they must adapt to their surroundings and overcome the fear of death once they are in the arena. Lastly, the conflict they struggle against is nature. They are forced to adapt to the new environment and face obstacles such as scarce amount of water and wild animals.

The makeup and clothing of Effie played a big role in portraying her character because it emphasized the difference in class of the Capitol and District 12. Effie wore a luxurious purple dress with a giant rose on top of her hair. By wearing this, the audience knows that the antagonists in the movie lived a prosperous life compared to the protagonist and because of their prosperity, it led them to gaining all power to control the 12 Districts. Other than the clothes, Effie wore purple makeup which emphasizes the oddity that the Capitol had in them. The makeup and clothing of Effie was significant in introducing the villains of the movie to the audience.
