To begin with, the third pig contains cleverness that beats the wolf’s ideas. When the wolf invites the pig to go turnip picking at six, the pig agrees and the wolf is excited that his idea worked. However, the pig outsmarts the pig and he leaves five instead and arrives at his house in time before the wolf shows up. “Well the little pig got up at five and was home again before six” (12). The pig knew that the wolf just wanted to lure him out of his house, so he went to pick his turnips before the Wolf came to attack him.
