In Native American traditions, “dance was a fundamental part of American Indian religious ceremonies” (Fuhrer 25). The tribes also used dance to communicate with other tribes and the gods that they believed in and worshiped. The typical style of dance performed by Native Americans involve stomping motions and bending your knees to get close to the ground. They also tend to hit their chests and legs with their hands to create extra beats. The dancers normally wear big, extravagant head dresses created with beautiful feathers and beads. Unfortunately, some traditional dances have disappeared due to being forced to stop dancing by the immigrants that wanted to claim their land.
