Pain is underreported in elderly because some elderly patients incorrectly believe pain is part of the normal aging process. This makes a bit challenging to effectively address pain in this population. Older people often require multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and management pain. Elderly suffer from other conditions which complicate pain management such depression, poor memory, psychosocial problems, denial and ect. Performing a comprehensive health history and physical exam is one way of get to the root of this problem. It is also important as providers to develop a good relationship with staff and care givers who spends more time with patients because they are the first one to detect changes in there ADLs and their function status
