Looking into the data associated to the time of day when juveniles are conducting these acts will better understand when they occur. The FBI’s National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) collects the information of violent crimes among juveniles. The data presented shows that violent crimes by juveniles peaked between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. or at the end of the school day. In a 2009-2010 study by NIBRS data shows that 62 percent of all violent crimes committed by juveniles occurred on school days. In fact “nearly 1 of every 5 juvenile violent crimes (19%) occurred in the 4 hours between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on school days” (Sickmund and Puzzanchera, 2014, Pg. 79).
During the 2014 year, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention estimated 1 million arrest were made to individuals under the age of 18. With this new data it shows there were more than 50 percent less arrest in 2014 than 2005. The highest number of arrest for criminal activity that year was property crime at 234,200 arrests which is incorporated with burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson (OJJDP Statistical Briefing Book).
Though there are many more different types of data that can be identified at the prevalence of juvenile delinquency it has been determined by much of the research and studies have shown over the years more from the 90s to present that the juvenile delinquency altercation’s have been greatly improved
