All the blood, sweat, and tears were for this moment is what the athlete thinks before they mount on the beam or pirouette on the stage. The competition is what they’ve been practicing for; the drive is what makes them champions.
As the snack stands close and the clock ticks down, the competition comes to an end. You can’t remember what you ate that night or what you were wearing, the only thing that really mattered was who won.
