People from all around the world would want to come to America for lots of different reasons, anything from the Irish Famine to the military draft in Germany and lastly Anti-Semitism in Russia. Immigrants from Italy would want to come to the U.S to escape hard times and the epidemics in their home country. Some other people just want to leave their home countries to get more educational opportunities or better jobs and good pay as well.
Americans must have been surprised to see all of these new people flooding into the country from all over Europe. Some might not be so welcoming because they think with all these new people that they will start to steal jobs and opportunities from Americans. On the other hand the new immigrants would not be picky with the jobs they got because they would be getting better pay and more than likely it would be a better job all around.
