Article 1: According to Karl Hanes in his “Effects on Salinity in Florida’s Estuaries”, Florida’s most important estuary, economically wise, will be impacted on greatly as a result of climate change. This climate change is causing the sea-levels to rise and a change in the river flow to occur. Due to this, an increase in salinity levels will result in the harming of the biodiversity and their habitats that are present within the estuary. As a result of high salinity levels many of the estuaries in Florida will be reduced.…
Climate change is creating a food crisis, its inconsistent weather year over year causes food insecurity throughout the world. Farmers have lost most of their food yields to severe droughts and flooding. Because of climate change, we are consistently seeing growing seasons change. This is causing farmers not to know when the right season is to plant certain crops. For costal farming, with rising sea levels there’s threat of contamination of fresh water, which is effecting water quality and crop production.…
Climate change causes changes in temperatures and rain that affect the agriculture. But the effect of the increase or decrease in temperature and rainfall in the agriculture depend on the region or location. The location dictates the soil fertility, therefore the extreme weather such as the heat waves, droughts, strong winds and heavy rains affecting the crop growth varies by region. Droughts in the Great Plains will stress the agriculture by the increase in temperature, less groundwater and flooding. In the Southwest the drought, water shortages, fire and floods will affect the soil decreasing the crops production.…
Larson, Kate. 2 March 2016. “ReSource Conservative” The speaker, Kate Larson spoke on behalf of ReSource Conservative. Larson talked about how Colorado’s population is projected to double by the year 2050 and about Colorado’s standing as a “headwater state”.…
In a 2016 article entitled “Changing Climate” the author Thomas Sumner discusses a variety of topics that revolve around how humans have impacted the Earth’s climate. “Changing Climate” examines climate change research, ocean circulation, hurricane research, and geology and climate. This article uses past and present research to validate the importance of these issues to create a well written exploration of human’s effect on the climate. Despite the fact that there is not a lot of data about what Earth’s environment was like before the early 1900’s, Sumner makes a compelling argument about how humans have had a negative influence on their surroundings. Sumner looked at several aspects of climate change and how it affects the world and…
The earth 's climate is dynamic and always changing through a natural cycle. Although both natural causes and human activities causes the climate what the world is more worried about is that the changes that are occurring today have been speeded up because of man 's activities. A growing population has brought nationwide recognition to Los Angeles and the surrounding area, but it has also brought increasing environmental problems, including water shortages and pollution and air pollution. Also, the city is susceptible to variable precipitation because of its geographic location, which means there are unpredictable droughts, and the dense population contributes to storm water pollution of local bodies of water.…
There has been an unprecedented amount of evidence that our Earth is heating up due to global warming causing hard to repair damage to the world. According to Van Jones, author of The Green Collar Economy we must take action now. The rising temperatures are melting the ice caps at alarming rates they are also allowing there to be a rise in bacterial plant diseases that ruin crops, and disease carrying insects. These insects can ruin more crops, as they are active for a much longer time. We humans add about seven billion tons of carbon to the atmosphere every year.…
The Clean Air Act (CAA) is an environmental law made by the U.S. government. This federal law aims at regulating air emissions from stationary sources such as industries and mobile sources such as vehicles. It was established to authorize the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to establish National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) that protects the public health through regulation of emissions that have a hazardous effect on air (Sueyoshi & Goto, 2010). The CAA was established in 1963 after several deaths were experienced in 1948 and 1952 due to air pollution. It was amended in 1977 and 1990 with the objective of setting new goals to achieve the attainment of NAAQS.…
Comprehending Climate Change Climate change has been a pressing issue in our world. There are multiple factors that negatively impact our climate; ranging from businesses using fossil fuels, people’s negative habits, and so forth. Even though the government and a portion of society have been taking immediate action towards reducing further effects, there is still a good amount of people who are in denial of climate change or just do not understand it. There has been numerous articles, books, and talks about climate change and the dangers of it.…
Task4 There are 12 states and has 65,377,684 people in their popula on. The Midwest has been generally warm as me goes on. It is ge ng warmer in the northern Midwest while the southern Midwest is at normal temperature. Impacts on Agriculture and ecosystem…
Climate change is the change in weather patterns on a global scale. This article suggests that climate change is causing more severe heat waves and will only progress as time goes on. There may be some correlation between the climates changing and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) but the conclusion is unclear. Infants have not had enough time to develop their thermoregulatory receptors, which means they cannot rid their tiny bodies of heat the way a more developed person can. The goal of this study is to try and pin point the exact risks of increased hot weather and its influence on SIDS.…
• The Midwest is home to 61 million people who are spread though out the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, Michigan, and Missouri. • In between the years of 1900-2010 the temperature of the Midwest increased by more than 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit. • If we do not cut back on green gases in the Midwest from the years 1979-2000 to the years of 2046-2065 the temperature will rise 3.8 degrees Fahrenheit, but if we do not cut back global warming will increase 4.9 degrees Fahrenheit with continuous growth in global emissions • The 10 most rainy days brought 40% of precipitation in a year.…
Annotated Bibliography: Global Climate Change This is an annotated bibliography for research on the causes of global climate change. I am researching on human activities that are responsible for global climate change. Watson, Robert T. ‘’Human Activity Causes Global Warming’’ Global Warming. Ed.…
More climate events may endorse plant disease and pest outbreaks (Gan, 2004). The flood’s destruction in South Asia’s low-lying and urban areas is cruelly complemented by the effects that drought and variation in periodic rainfall will have on agriculture. Extreme heat is already disrupting the growing season in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. Wheat production in the Indian, fertile areas of Pakistan and Bangladesh, may decrease up to 50 percent by 2100, harming the millions of people who rely on it for food. As monsoons shifting affect the quantity of water available for irrigation, a major drop in the standard of living is one of the world’s most guaranteed water-stressed areas.…
The apocalypse is an idea that people talk about regularly in today’s society. From a zombie outbreak to a major flood, anything could lead to the end of time as we know it. However, nothing is more frightening or real than the threat of catastrophic climate change. Climate change is the result of exponential amounts of carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere, which causes the earth to trap heat in between the surface and the ozone causing a drastic temperature change and extreme changes to global climates. This temperature change can cause a number of issues for all life on earth.…
