First of all, scholars focused on the issues that can be caused by plastic products on the environment in the period between 2000 and 2012. According to Anthony Andrady who is a research scientist, “Plastics can cause many global and local issues for long or short period of time” (2003). Also, he stated some of the global problems that can be caused by plastic products such as, depletion of stratospheric ozone, global warming, and reduction of fossil fuel energy (2003). People have to use plastics wisely in order to reduce these negative impacts of plastics on the environment. In addition, Andrady illustrated some of the local issues caused by plastics such as, urban litter, smog, and solid waste (35-36). Furthermore, scholars start talking about the solutions of this huge issue. Andrady indicated that by reducing the usage of plastic products, much amount of energy and natural resources will be saved (39). According to Professor Andrew Graettinger who is director of graduate programs for civil, construction and environmental engineering, “The …show more content…
Many countries make recycling plastic programs in order to decrease the negative impacts of plastic waste on the environment. According to materials ecience AlAli AlMaadeed, “Recycling plastic products is the best solution to stop the problems caused by plastics on the environment in Qatar” (186). In addition, as he mentioned in his article, many recycling plastic programs opened in Qatar to solve this problem because of an increasing in the migrants in Qatar which increased the solid waste. Moreover, Al-Maaded illustrated that people in Qatar start reusing some of these plastics in order to decrease the amount of plastics that are thrown in the landfills in which will protect the environment (188). Also, people continue discovering how to use the recycled plastics to make new things that have less impacts on the environment. They ended up comparing two kinds of fiber reinforcements which are glass and flax with their virgin fibers as discussed in Saravana Rajendran’s article. The article shows that scholars were talking about how to apply new solutions for this serious problem at that period of time (132- 133). The result showed that the reinforced fibers will have fewer effects on the environment and will reduce the global warming as well. Also, it will reduce the usage of natural resource and energy (134). Scholars in this period of time discussed how people
